Why Procrastinate?

There's just so many more interesting things to waste
my time on,
or
I like working under pressure,
or
Why do it now, when I could do it later?
or
Just before the deadline, it might turn out that
I don't need to do it,
or
I have some hidden subconscious reservations
against doing this thing,
or
My desire to please is overcome by my laziness,
or
I actually am not procrastinating,
I'm just sleeping some more on it.

A reminder of closed doors

What was once missed, is now rationalized away?
Yeah, it probably is for the best actually.
A rare one of these doors ever opens again.

Omnipotent, just a matter of degree

Machines whisk us from one place to another,
covering in mere hours,
uncomfortable horseback days or weeks;
Search and wiki make us geniuses,
nearly matching the talking Star Trek computer;
A few ounces of plastic and metal in our pockets,
and we talk with anyone anytime,
the Star Trek communicator only beats us,
if we are friends with an astronaut;
Did Iron Man just use his cell to call Pepper?

Horses and water

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.
How true that statement seems to me.
Perhaps it wants to snack on sugar cubes.
Maybe a romp with other horses.
Unlikely it wants to pull a cart.
But perhaps race around a track at full gallop.
Yet strange it seems, in the sun and heat,
I'd go for a drink and a swim.
